Khaberni - The Cabinet decided to approve the draft law ratifying the executive agreement for the evaluation, development, and exploitation of gold and its associated minerals in the Abu Khashiba area between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Wadi Araba Minerals Company, and the license for conducting exploration, prospecting, development, operation, and production of gold and associated minerals and marketing it for Wadi Araba Minerals Company for the year 2025.
This bill is in compliance with Article 117 of the Jordanian Constitution, which states that any concession granted to confer any right related to the exploitation of mines or minerals or public utilities must be ratified by law, and also in execution of Article 9 of the Natural Resources Law No. 19 of 2018, which stipulates that ratification of the production-sharing agreement or the executive agreements and the granted license must be in accordance with the provisions of Article 117 of the Constitution.
The agreement comes within the framework of government efforts to support investment in the mining and natural resources sector, which enhances its contribution to supporting the national economy, developing local communities, providing job opportunities, alongside enhancing the competitiveness of the local product, and reducing reliance on traditional resources.
