Khaberni - Former CIA Director John Brennan sparked a wide debate among social media users after he spoke about his experience smoking "hashish" while he was in Egypt.
Brennan explained, during an interview with the Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Qabas" published last Saturday, that he recalled memories of wandering the streets of Khan el-Khalili and the gold market, and he wrote in his memoirs about his visits to the market and smoking a hookah that contained hashish.
He added that during that period he began smoking cigarettes, but he has long since quit this habit, noting that they used to mix hashish with tobacco inside the cigarettes.
This was done in the company of his Egyptian and American friends and others, considering this practice as part of the prevailing culture at the time, where they would head to the city center every Thursday night to meet and smoke hashish, as this experience was also a way for him to practice the Arabic language.
