Khaberni - In a striking surprise for the Egyptian job market, the CEO of Raya Contact Centers, Alaa El Khashen, revealed that the salaries of recent graduates working in the call center and customer service sector have jumped to unprecedented levels, reaching up to 40,000 pounds monthly, pointing out that his company will be hiring about 3500 people soon in Egypt.
El Khashen explained in an exclusive interview with Al Arabiya Business that the decisive factor in determining salaries is proficiency in foreign languages, stressing: "I advise young people to learn languages because it’s the fastest way to obtain excellent salaries."
He pointed out that German speakers receive the highest salaries, where the salary of a recent graduate can reach 40,000 pounds monthly, while English speakers earn varying salaries depending on the language level and the graduate's capabilities.
Arabic speakers are only appointed for the local market with salaries higher than the minimum wage, while speakers of other foreign languages receive salaries that are 4 times the minimum wage.
El Khashen clarified that a customer service employee who speaks English earns about double the minimum wage, while a German speaker earns four times that amount, which reflects a significant change in the salary map within the sector, and an increase in the demand for linguistic skills due to the expansion of outsourcing services in Egypt.
This development comes as the call center sector experiences rapid growth and transformation into one of the most important employment pathways for the youth, especially with the increased international reliance on Egypt as a destination for outsourcing and multilingual support services
