Khaberni - Minister of Transport Dr. Nidal Al-Qatamin chaired the board meeting of the Jordanian Hejaz Railway Corporation, which convened inside one of the historic passenger carriages (the compartment). They discussed a number of issues concerning development and updating plans, and discussed mechanisms to activate future projects to align with the institution's vision.
Minister Al-Qatamin took a field tour inside the facilities of the Hejaz Railway and reviewed future projects, as well as the rehabilitation and maintenance works of locomotives and carriages, in addition to examining the latest developments of the museum dedicated to the institution.
Minister Al-Qatamin emphasized the importance of preserving this prestigious historic legacy, which represents an integral part of Jordan's transportation identity, stressing the need to develop the infrastructure of the institution and augment it with trained competencies to ensure its sustainability and enhance its tourism and heritage role.
The Minister said, "Our presence today in this open historical museum reflects the authenticity of the past and embodies the journey of development in the transportation sector. It is one of the most important landmarks that connect generations with the history of the nation."
The General Director of the Jordanian Hejaz Railway Corporation, Zahi Khalil, explained that the institution is currently working on developing and rehabilitating stations spread from the north to the south of the kingdom, adding that there are ambitious future plans that will be implemented according to a specific timeline.
This visit is part of the Ministry of Transport's commitment to support national institutions with a historic character, and to enhance efforts to preserve the cultural and historic heritage of transportation in the kingdom.
