Khaberni - From a screen that folds twice to a device that transforms in three moves into a mini computer in the hand's grip, it appears that Samsung is close to achieving a new leap in the world of smartphones with its new project, the Galaxy Z TriFold, around which rumors are increasing day after day. Reports indicate that the end of the year 2025 might be the time the device is officially revealed.
However, Samsung will not be the first in this field, as Huawei preceded it by launching Mate XT Ultimate Design in 2024, yet the lack of Google applications on Huawei phones and their limited release in certain markets gives Samsung the opportunity to introduce the first globally usable tri-fold phone on a broad scale, according to tomsguide.
Samsung recently introduced the latest generation of its foldable phones, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, without revealing the new tri-fold version, which has many anticipating a later announcement during 2025.
The latest leaks suggest that the phone might be officially launched on December 5th coming, while other leaks hinted that the official revelation could happen at the end of September next year.
New patents and name
Samsung's first tri-fold phone patents date back to 2023, yet their transformation into an actual product remained uncertain until recently. Reports show that the company considered naming it Galaxy G Fold, instead of the current "Z" brand used in its foldable phone series.
However, Samsung also registered a trademark for Galaxy Z TriFold, indicating that the final name has yet to be decided.
Expected price
Leaks have not revealed the official price, but estimates suggest that the device might exceed the $2500 barrier, based on the $1900 price of the Z Fold 6.
The price of Huawei Mate XT is about $2800, which makes it likely that Samsung's new device would be priced around $3000, according to some sources.
Limited availability
Initial information indicates that the Galaxy Z TriFold might only be launched in limited markets including South Korea, China, and the United Arab Emirates, and in limited quantities, which could make acquiring it difficult in countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, or Australia. These markets might have to wait for the second generation of the device if Samsung decides to expand the distribution later on.
Design and technical specifications
According to leaks, the phone will be inward-folding, unlike Huawei's design which folds outward. This means the device will contain a flexible main screen inside and another external screen for daily use when the phone is folded.
The internal screen size when fully opened is estimated to be about 10 inches, while the external screen is 6.5 inches, dimensions close to Huawei's Mate XT and consistent with the current Fold series standards.
Despite the size of its screens, it is expected that the phone will not support the S Pen, due to the absence of the "digitizer" layer responsible for pen sensing, a decision that surprised some observers, especially since the previous Fold series supported smart pens. Samsung may first focus on the structural aspects of the phone before adding additional features in future releases.
Camera and processor
Details regarding the cameras are still limited, but one source mentioned that the main camera would be 200 megapixels, like the one found in Z Fold 7, alongside a 12-megapixel wide lens and a 10-megapixel zoom lens, while the front camera is expected to carry 12 megapixels, with an internal camera under the screen at 4 megapixels.
In terms of performance, it is likely that the device will rely on a high-end Snapdragon processor, but it remains unclear whether it will be Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy used in the Galaxy S25 series, or the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and it is expected that the device comes with no less than 12 gigabytes of RAM and a storage capacity starting from 256 gigabytes.
Battery and charging
Leaks suggest that the phone will have a battery capacity of 5600 milliamps per hour, a relatively large capacity but necessary to power such a large screen.
As for charging, it will conform to Samsung's traditional foldable phone specifications at 25 watts, although users hope that the company would adopt a 45-watt speed as in some of its flagship models.
Despite the absence of final details, leaks agree that Samsung is working hard to develop this phone, without hurrying its launch, to avoid the mistakes that accompanied the first release of Galaxy Fold years ago.
