According to the circulating video, the argument began with sharp exchanges between the two on one of the streets of Colima city, before quickly escalating to an attempt at physical confrontation.
The local official was seen advancing towards the deputy, challenging him to fight, before attempting to throw a strong punch but fell to the ground as his foot slipped according to "Puebla County" newspaper.
Despite his fall, Moreno quickly got up and kicked Deputy Moran, who seemed shocked and tried to move away from the confrontation, but the attacking official kept on pursuing him and continuing the insults.
Twitter users questioned the level of professionalism and discipline among some local officials, considering what happened "unbefitting of people's representatives" and tarnishing the image of public institutions in the country.
