Khaberni - The Director of Security for As-Suwayda Governorate in Syria, Suleiman Abdel Baqi, confirmed that gangs and militias of the "Unpatriotic Guard" continue to breach the ceasefire agreement for the third consecutive day, targeting locations of internal security forces within the governorate.
Abdel Baqi stated in a post on his Facebook page on Friday dawn that the instructions issued by the internal security command are clear and decisive, stipulating to respond only to sources of fire after full verification and documentation of any violation.
Abdel Baqi reassured the civilians and local "honorable" factions, as he described them, that rumors about security targeting them are "absolutely untrue". He pointed out that security agencies are accurately monitoring every point of clashes, working to prevent sliding into further tension.
He emphasized that protecting civilians and avoiding escalation are priorities for the internal security forces, assuring that the state is the fundamental guarantor for enforcing security and stability in As-Suwayda. He concluded by saying, "Blood only brings blood, and sedition is worse than killing, and our hands are extended to the honorable."
Meanwhile, the Governor of As-Suwayda, Mustafa Al-Bakur, condemned the attacks carried out by what he described as "undisciplined armed factions" on points of dispute resolution and security forces in the western and northern rural areas of the governorate, considering them attempts to destabilize and drag the governorate into chaos.
Al-Bakur mentioned that these actions reflect "narrow interests and tendencies towards looting", which contradict the national values of the people of As-Suwayda. He urged the residents to confront anyone who tries to tamper with their security or exploit the conditions for personal ends, affirming that security is a collective responsibility and protecting the community is the duty of every individual committed to the law.
