Khaberni - 25 countries supplied Israel with oil during its war on the Gaza Strip, according to a report published today, Thursday, by the non-governmental organization "Oil Change International", condemning a system based on fossil fuels that exacerbates the climate crisis and what it described as "genocide".
This report, published on the sidelines of the 30th Conference of the Parties in Brazil (COP30), indicates that Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan provided 70% of the crude oil shipments between November 1, 2023, and October 1, 2025.
Russia, Greece, and the United States top the list of countries exporting refined oil products to Israel. The United States is the only country that supplies Israel with "JP-8" fuel designated for military aircraft.
"Oil Change International" stated that the countries that supplied Israel with fuel during this period did so with full knowledge of its atrocities.
The organization added that it has documented the complicity of these countries in this report to hold them accountable, and that they must acknowledge their involvement in this genocide and cease their complicity.
The non-governmental organization commissioned the firm "Data Desk" to analyze the oil flows, where 323 shipments were identified during the stated period, totaling 21.2 million tons.
For her part, the researcher in human rights and economic affairs at the British Institute for International and Comparative Law, Irene Petropouli, opined that countries are obligated to comply with the provisional order issued by the International Court of Justice which states “to prevent genocide and punish those involved in it.”
In her statement, she said, "Countries must consider that their assistance, particularly military, to Israel may expose them to the risk of complicity in genocide under the Genocide Convention (Prevention and Punishment)."
A ceasefire agreement halted an Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip that began on October 8, 2023, which left more than 69,000 Palestinian casualties and more than 170,000 injured, the majority of whom are children and women, with the UN estimating the reconstruction costs at around 70 billion dollars.
In July 2024, the International Court of Justice issued an advisory opinion concluding the "illegality" of Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories, while a UN committee accused Israel of committing "genocide" in the Gaza Strip.
