Russia China and Arab Countries Oppose US Resolution on Gaza

Khaberni - The Associated Press said that the US proposal in the Security Council concerning a plan to end the war and deploy an international force in Gaza, faces opposition from Russia, China, and Arab countries.

Diplomatic sources have told Al Jazeera that the United States has distributed a revised resolution to the members of the UN Security Council for the second time, endorsing a comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza and urging all parties to implement it immediately and fully.

The sources clarified that an explicit reference to a "path toward self-determination and the establishment of a Palestinian state" was added to the resolution, with a role for the United States in initiating dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians towards a "political horizon for prosperous peaceful coexistence".

The sources revealed that the resolution now clarifies that the authority of the Peace Council, and its supervision over the Gaza Strip, would be "transitional".

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atty revealed on Tuesday that there were notes from several countries on the American proposal, expressing hope for reaching consensual formulations without compromising Palestinian constants.

The Egyptian minister then explained that his country was engaged in ongoing consultations in New York in this regard, consulting daily with the United States, in addition to consultations with all members of the Security Council and with the Arab group through Algeria, who is currently a member of the Council.

The administration of President Donald Trump has stated that it is making efforts in the Security Council to draft a resolution that would establish the international framework for the stability force in Gaza, pointing out that the countries volunteering to participate in this force need a mandate from the Council.

Trump said a few days ago that he believes the arrival of the international force in Gaza is very close and that things are "going well so far" within the framework of the ceasefire.

The ceasefire in Gaza began on October 10th after two years of Israeli genocide, under the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey as part of a 20-point plan laid by the American President.

However, Israel continues to launch attacks on Gaza almost daily and restricts the entry of humanitarian aid contrary to the agreement.
