Khaberni - Israeli company BlueBird Aero Systems, a global leader in tactical unmanned aircraft, confirmed its intention to launch the first factory to produce SPY-X unmanned aircraft in Morocco.
Media sources mentioned that the launch of the factory is a significant step in the technological and industrial cooperation between Rabat and Tel Aviv.
BlueBird company, a subsidiary of the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), announced on its official LinkedIn page that it hosted the technical team of its Moroccan partner in an intensive training course on its production process.
This meeting is part of the organized Technology Transfer (TOT) program, aimed at training Moroccan engineers and technicians on the manufacturing processes of the SPY-X tactical drone, a model distinguished by its performance and versatility in field applications.
Besides the technical sessions, the Moroccan and Israeli teams shared a friendly moment around a friendly soccer match, as a symbol of the partnership spirit and mutual respect surrounding this unprecedented project.
Ronen Nader, CEO of BlueBird Aero Systems, confirmed in April 2024 that the production infrastructure is ready and that the Moroccan factory will begin operations in the near future, without specifying an exact date.
Moroccan site "le7tv.ma" reported that this industrial project expected to be soon realized in the kingdom, embodies Morocco's commitment to enhancing its technological sovereignty and developing a national defense industry with high added value.
The source noted that the Kingdom, which focuses on growing the aviation and defense sectors, sees in this partnership a strategic lever for creating skilled job opportunities, attracting foreign investments, and transferring advanced skills to its local engineers.
It was explained that the cooperation embodies the growing closeness between Morocco and Blue Bird Aerospace Systems in terms of security, research, and industrial innovation. Since resuming relations in 2020, several agreements have been signed in the sectors of defense, cybersecurity, and aerospace, making Morocco a central African and Mediterranean hub for technological production.
Moreover, transferring technology to an African country with an industrial focus is unprecedented for the Israeli company, which sees the kingdom as a strategic platform for serving the African and Arab markets.
It is worth mentioning that Morocco and Israel signed a military and security cooperation agreement in Rabat in November 2021, which opened the door to this type of strategic partnerships.
