Solar Flare Hits Earth Disrupts Communications on Two Continents

Khaberni - An X5.1 class solar flare shook the planet on the morning of November 11, marking the strongest flare of the year and causing widespread disturbances in wireless communications across the continents of Africa and Europe.

A massive wave of energy and radiation was released from the giant sunspot named AR4274 towards our planet, reaching its peak at 10:00 AM GMT.

This flare is classified as category X, the highest in terms of intensity and impact on the scale of solar explosions, and is the strongest since October 2024, according to the "Space" site.

The impact of this flare was not limited to the cosmic scene but also resulted in the disruption of high-frequency wireless communications and the confusion of navigation systems on the illuminated side of the Earth, in addition to affecting the operation of satellites.

Experts at the American Space Weather Prediction Center warned that this phenomenon could be a precursor to strong geomagnetic storms, expecting them to peak in the coming hours, which could lead to the appearance of aurora lights in unusual areas.

This explosion is part of a series of flares emitted by sunspot AR4274, including an X1.7 flare on November 9 and an X1.2 flare on November 10 accompanied by coronal mass ejections (CMEs) that may interfere and affect Earth later, increasing the likelihood of strong G3-class geomagnetic storms and widespread polar auroras, according to NOAA data.

Scientists expect these solar flares to continue in the coming days, highlighting the immense power of nature and underscoring the importance of being prepared for space weather in an era where communication technology has become an essential part of our daily lives.
