Verbal altercations broke out among a number of members of the House of Representatives, prompting the Speaker of the House to adjourn the session for consultation. The altercations occurred during the voting process to elect the Financial Committee, during the Tuesday session, after the House referred the General Budget Law for the fiscal year 2026 to its Financial Committee.
The Speaker of the House, Mazen Al-Qadi, held a meeting in his office that included deputies from the Islamic Action Front Party, where an agreement was reached to delegate Al-Qadi to achieve consensuses on the committee formations, and to delegate the Islamic Action Front parliamentary block, represented by deputy Saleh Al-Armouti, to reach a consensus on committee memberships.
The Deputy Assistant to the Speaker of the House, Hala Al-Jarrah, told "Al-Mamlaka" on Tuesday, that an agreement was reached on 17 parliamentary committees out of 20, excluding the Agriculture, Labor, and Administration Committees, confirming that "no bloc was excluded in this agreement".
She mentioned that what took place in the Tuesday session of altercations among a number of deputies could happen in any parliament, stating that she "saw no transgression in what occurred".
The Financial Committee will begin discussing the budget project with ministries, units, and government institutions, in preparation for preparing its recommendations and submitting them to the House of Representatives, which will then commence discussing the project under the dome of the parliament.
