Mexico Discovery of a secret burial site containing the remains of 16 people

Khaberni - The Mexican authorities announced today, Monday, the discovery of a building used as a secret burial site in a town near the Cancun tourist resort overlooking the Caribbean Sea, where the remains of at least 16 people, who have not yet been identified, have been found thus far.

Quintana Roo’s Attorney General, Rasiel Lopez Salazar, stated that the site was discovered in Leona Vicario town, 42 kilometers west of Cancun, pointing out that there are 5 other sites of "criminal significance" still under examination, which could increase the number of victims.
Skeletons were found in ten different sites, covered with cement and quicklime, and Mexico has more than 133,000 people registered as missing, most of whom disappeared in the last two decades.

Discoveries of secret graves are common in other states such as Jalisco, Michoacán, Tamaulipas, and Veracruz, but are rare in Quintana Roo, a state known for tourism.
However, the coastal area has long witnessed the presence of organized crime gangs, as it is an important area for drug trafficking, and has been a key point for illegal entry of migrants.
