Washington No official plans for a US base near the Gaza Strip

Khaberni - A spokeswoman for the US administration stated on Tuesday that the White House has not yet approved the step of establishing a temporary military base near the Gaza Strip, affirming that no plans at the highest levels have been approved, and it should not be considered an official step in the Middle East.

Bloomberg reported that an internal document showed that the US military is considering the possibility of building a temporary base capable of accommodating ten thousand people near the Gaza Strip, as the United States seeks to form a stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

According to the document, the US Navy requested a group of qualified companies to provide an estimated cost for building a "temporary military operations base capable of supporting 10,000 individuals, and providing 10,000 square feet of office space for a period of 12 months".

The request specified the potential location as "near Gaza, in Israel", and was sent to qualified companies on October 31, according to two sources familiar with the matter. Responses were due by November 3.

An American official, who asked not to be named, said that the request represents an early step in a plan to establish a potential base in southern Israel for the stabilization force, adding that no US forces would participate in the base.

Bloomberg quoted White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt saying that the administration has not approved this step yet.

Levitt said: "Such a plan has not been considered or approved by the highest levels of the United States government and should not be considered an official plan in the Middle East."
