Khaberni - Mohammad Al-Jaafari, the national team karate player, was crowned today, Tuesday, with the silver medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
"Al-Jaafari" succeeded in winning his second medal in the history of his participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games having previously been crowned with the gold medal in the last edition held in the Turkish city of Konya in 2022.
Mohammad Al-Jaafari, ranked first in the world in the under 84 kg category, managed to win the silver medal after winning 3 consecutive matches before losing in the final match.
Mohammad Al-Jaafari began his journey towards the silver medal by defeating the Azerbaijani player Turgut Hasanov in the round of 16, then won against the Emirati player Reda Al-Masoudi, and in the quarterfinals he defeated the Senegalese player Mokhtar Diop, but in the finals, "Al-Jaafari" lost to the Kazakhstani player Nikita Tarnakin.
On his part, Abdullah Hammad (under 60 kg) failed to reach the podium, winning two matches against the Albanian Orges Arifi and the Beninese Marcial Kpabadono, but lost in the quarterfinals against the Kuwaiti player Abdullah Shabaan, moving to compete for the bronze medal which he lost to the Kazakhstani player Zulaman.
The national karate team will continue its participation in the games tomorrow, featuring players Abdulrahman Al-Masatafa (under 67 kg), Jood Duroos (under 68 kg), and Yara Nasser (over 68 kg).
