Khaberni - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met on Tuesday at the Élysée Palace in the French capital Paris, with French President Emmanuel Macron.

During the meeting, the President praised the substantial support that France provides to the Palestinian people and renewed his thanks to his French counterpart for his country's recognition of the state of Palestine.

The two presidents discussed efforts being made to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, to ensure the entry of humanitarian aid, the handover of the detainees and prisoners, the completion of the Israeli withdrawal from the sector, and enabling the State of Palestine to take up its responsibilities, leading to reconstruction, preventing displacement and annexation, and restoring permanent stability, preparing for the end of the occupation and achieving the independence of the State of Palestine, a viable, democratic, sovereign state according to international law.

Abbas briefed Macron on the Israeli escalation in the West Bank including East Jerusalem, the ongoing settlement activities, settlers’ terrorism, and assaults on Christian and Islamic holy sites.

He discussed the difficult economic and financial situations facing the State of Palestine, due to Israel's continued strangulation of the Palestinian economy, undermining the institutions of the State of Palestine, and called on France to pressure Israel to release the detained Palestinian funds and to stop any deductions from them under any pretexts.

Abbas confirmed full commitment to all the reforms pledged by the State of Palestine.
