Khaberni - The Public Prosecutor in Cairo referred a private school teacher to the criminal court, after she was accused of intentionally killing two people and injuring nine others in a horrific accident on the Nile Corniche in the Maadi area, while she was driving her car under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

According to the investigations, the incident occurred on Sunday evening, when the accused, aged 35, lost control of her "black Mercedes" after initially colliding with a motorcycle, continued to drive at high speed and ran over a group of pedestrians while trying to flee the collision site.

The accident resulted in the death of a person (42 years old) and another (28 years old), in addition to injuring nine other people, including two children aged 6 and 8, with severe wounds and fractures, according to forensic reports.

The analysis results showed an alcohol level of 1.8 grams per liter of the accused's blood, in addition to traces of cannabis in the urine, confirming her drug use before the accident occurred.

The investigations also revealed that the accused attempted to flee after a chase that lasted about 500 meters, before a traffic patrol was able to stop her with the help of several pedestrians who witnessed the incident.

During the initial investigations, the accused denied using drugs or consuming alcohol; however, the medical examination results came to refute her statements, leading the prosecution to refer her to the criminal court without allowing her bail.
