Khaberni - Italian reports indicated that the former coach of the Italian national team, Roberto Mancini, accepted an offer to take over coaching the Al Sadd club in the Qatar Stars League, just one year after his departure from the Saudi national team.
La Gazzetta dello Sport, published on Monday, confirmed that Mancini, aged 60, has already agreed to take charge of Al Sadd with a preliminary contract until the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the news in a post on his Instagram account.
Fabrizio Romano wrote, "Roberto Mancini accepts Al Sadd's verbal offer, and the deal is ready.. An agreement on a long-term contract with the Qatari club with an exit clause for Mancini in the summer of 2026."
He added, "Mancini is expected to sign the contract as soon as the official documents are approved."
La Gazzetta dello Sport predicted that Mancini would be in Qatar by the middle of this week to complete the transfer procedures to Al Sadd.
After leading Italy to win the European Championship in 2021, Mancini failed to qualify the Italian national team for the 2022 World Cup, resigned in August 2023, then took over the Saudi national team, before leaving his position in October 2024.
