Important for University Students in Jordan Regarding Scholarships

Khaberni - Mohannad Al-Khatib, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, said today, Monday, that the ministry raised the number of full scholarships by 112 new scholarships, aiming to expand the base of beneficiaries of the support and to achieve more justice and equal opportunities among students.

Al-Khatib added that the revenues from the sale of distinctive numbers, which amounted to four million seven hundred sixty thousand dinars, will contribute to enabling about three thousand students to benefit from the support according to previously established conditions, with an adjustment of the competitive academic score from 200 to 400 points, according to Petra.

He clarified that the application mechanism will remain as it is, as it will be implemented entirely electronically via the website of the Directorate of Missions in the ministry, affirming that the process is completely free and does not require any fees from the students.

Al-Khatib explained that this step comes after the Cabinet approved the amended system project for the Student Support Fund for the year 2025, as a preliminary to sending it to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau urgently, aiming to align it with the Higher Education Law No. (17) for the year 2018 and to enhance justice in the distribution of support.

He pointed out that the new amendments included increasing the number of scholarships for the top students in each district from 6 to 8 full scholarships, and expanding the humanitarian cases to include students whose family heads have disabilities, in addition to allocating 5 percent of the partial scholarships and loans for students of the Royal Grant for Teachers' Children.

He noted the adoption of a new competitive mechanism with a total of 1000 marks, including 400 for academic status, 300 for those registered in the National Aid Fund, 200 for having siblings in universities, and 100 for the residential location, achieving geographical justice in opportunities.

He indicated that the application process is conducted once a year, and it is expected to be announced before the end of the current month, confirming that these amendments will reflect positively on the students by enhancing justice and expanding the scope of benefitting from the Student Support Fund.
