Khaberni - The case of the death of the former Syrian presidential adviser Luna Al-Shibl has resurfaced more than a year after her death, with new information and leaks suggesting that the incident that took her life was a premeditated crime carried out to silence a voice that was no longer desired within the power circle.
The Syrian Observatory said, "Luna Al-Shibl was killed not as the previous regime claimed that she died in a traffic accident, but after information was received by the Hezbollah militia about her relationship with Israel and her leaking information about what is known as the leadership of the 'Axis of Resistance' who met at the Iranian embassy in Damascus."
It added, "Luna Al-Shibl was killed by direct orders from Bashar al-Assad, based on intelligence information from Hezbollah, and this information is precise not just analysis, and the operation was carried out by the Syrian Air Force Intelligence Service, specifically by Brigadier General Qahtan Qahtan whose whereabouts are unknown and who held the position of Deputy Chief of Air Force Intelligence."
According to the Syrian Observatory, there was clear tension between Luna Al-Shibl and Bashar al-Assad weeks before her murder, and intelligence indicated that she wanted to leave Syrian territories.
Media reports clarified that one of her brothers, who was an officer, was the one who gave information to Israel about Hezbollah from Luna Al-Shibl.
It was indicated that there are 3 parties involved in Al-Shibl's murder: Hezbollah, who provided the information; Bashar al-Assad, who ordered her killing; and the Air Force Intelligence, who carried out the operation.
Preliminary examination
Syrian media revealed that the incident that occurred in July 2024 on the Yafour road near Damascus was not just a traffic accident, but that Al-Shibl was struck hard from behind with the butt of a rifle, causing fatal skull fractures that led to her immediate death.
The reports further explained that the initial examination of the body disclosed a deliberate blow to the head and neck, while the investigations were quickly closed, and Al-Shibl was buried without formal ceremonies or an extended announcement from the relevant authorities, which increased the mystery surrounding the circumstances of her death.
The leaks confirmed that this information emerged after a full year following the incident, after reviewing investigation files and some testimonies that suggested Luna Al-Shibl was killed by unknown assailants, after being targeted with a direct blow to the head.
It is worth mentioning that Luna Al-Shibl was one of the most prominent media and political personalities in Syria in recent years, having held the position of media adviser at the presidential palace, and had previously worked in a number of Arab media institutions.
