Khaberni - Apple is working to reinvent the design of keyboards and touchpads for its portable devices, following the registration of a new patent that reveals the development of a thinner trackpad, equipped with enhanced touch technology that operates without a battery, and is fully integrated with the keyboard.

The patent documents clarify that Apple has redesigned the trackpad components so that the vibration unit (haptic engine) has been moved from under the touch surface to its side.

This change allows a reduction in thickness while maintaining the touch accuracy for which MacBook devices and "Magic Trackpad" accessories are renowned, according to a report published by "macobserver" and reviewed by "Al Arabiya Business".

Apple is replacing batteries with an electrical capacitor system that emits short energy pulses to generate the sensation of pressure and clicking, making the design lighter and smaller.

Keys and tracking on a single control panel
One of the notable innovations in the patent is that Apple plans to combine the control of the keyboard and the trackpad via a single logic board, which reduces the number of internal components and provides more space inside the device or future iPad and MacBook accessories.

The documents also indicate the use of semi-flexible adhesive materials to firmly attach the internal components while allowing a slight amount of flexibility to ensure durability in ultra-thin designs.

Main features of the patent
- A power system based on capacitors: Eliminates the need for internal batteries and reduces weight.

- Magnetic touch response: Simulates the sensation of clicking through precise magnetic attraction and movement.

- Integration of the keyboard and tracking: In a single controller unit to simplify circuits and reduce malfunctions.

- Side mounting of the haptic engine: Allows for reduced thickness and improved balance during use.

- Lighter and smoother design: Suitable for portable devices and detachable accessories.

Step towards a new generation of "Apple" devices
This design indicates that Apple is moving towards producing thinner and lighter "Magic" keyboards for MacBook and iPad devices, with a realistic touch experience similar to what is offered today but in a smaller and more efficient structure.

The patent, which includes nine inventors, among them Henry Tsao and Scott McQuin, confirms Apple's ongoing efforts to reduce the size of devices, improve touch response, and unify internal components, paving the way for a new era of lightweight, easily portable Mac and iPad accessories without sacrificing the quality of the experience.
