Khaberni - Egyptian artist Yasser Galal comments on the controversy surrounding social media in Egypt due to his speech in Algeria after being honored at the end of the thirteenth edition of the Oran Film Festival.
Yasser Galal faced criticism from social media users due to his statements at the Oran Film Festival, where he said that Algeria had sent commando forces to Egypt after the 1967 war to protect Egyptian citizens in Tahrir Square.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday evening, Galal said: "All appreciation, greetings, reverence, and respect to our brave Egyptian armed forces, which I am proud and honored to have been a part of one day after serving in the military and completing my service with a (good example) certificate."
He mentioned his pride in presenting two extremely important national works for Egypt, namely: the series "El Ekhteyar" in which he portrayed the character of the current Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his role during his tenure as Minister of Defense and leader of the Egyptian army, and the movie "Day of Dignity", adding: "Nobody can compete with Egypt's role in helping its Arab brothers from the ocean to the Gulf."
About the negative comments on his statements at the Oran Film Festival, he continued: "My father always loved the Arab homeland and Arab countries and would tell us stories about Algeria and Saudi Arabia, and all the Arab brothers, Egypt's role in serving the Arab brothers is known, and the roles of the Arabs in serving Egypt are known."
He continued, "All the Presidents of the Republic throughout history have mentioned the help of the Arab brothers to us, President Sisi used to boast about the help of the Arab brothers to Egypt, and the Arab brothers boast about helping Egypt."
He indicated that the Arab countries and Algeria sent symbolic forces to Egypt after the 1967 war, proceeding: "This is a known fact and no one denies it, please do not pay attention to the negative comments, the roles are known and the statuses are preserved, we remember the role of President Houari Boumediene in supporting Egypt, and President Gamal Abdel Nasser in supporting the Algerian revolution."
He said, "May God protect Egypt and all Arab countries from the plots of the plotters, Egypt 120 million, if a few people said negative things, it's not a problem, the entire Egyptian people love Algeria and the Algerian people love Egypt, long live Egypt, long live Algeria, and long live the Arab countries."
The Egyptian artist concluded his comment by saying: "We are in dire need of becoming united again, please there’s no need to reproach each other and say we are better, the greater doesn’t say they are greater, the generous don’t say they have bestowed their gifts on others, have a happy and delightful day."
