Khaberni - The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Kuwait, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, said that the full support from the Amir of the country enabled the ministry to achieve significant successes, which were manifested in eliminating about 90 percent of the drug quantities entering the country.

He added that "the Cabinet, in its weekly meeting 10 days ago, approved a draft decree-law concerning the fight against drugs and psychoactive substances and the regulation of their use and trafficking, and it will be stringent and deterrent for traffickers and users of drugs," pointing out that the council has raised the draft decree to His Highness the Amir of the country.

He explained that he assigned the General Department for Security Media and Relations in the Ministry of Interior, to coordinate with the Ministry of Information; to launch an awareness program before the news bulletin, until the law comes into effect, to acquaint the community with its new provisions.

About the method of dealing with drug cases in the past, Al-Yousef indicated that the rulings in the past had some leniency, hoping that the law will contribute to correcting the course and deterring everyone dealing with this serious scourge.
