Dr. Mohammad Gaith, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education for Vocational and Technical Education, said that the ministry aims, in accordance with the economic modernization vision by the year (2032), to increase the enrollment rate of students in the vocational and technical education sector (Khaberni - BTEC) to 50%, and to expand its specializations and improve their quality to meet the market needs for skilled and qualified competencies.
Gaith emphasized that vocational and technical education receives special royal attention from His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, noting that the ministry has taken a series of actions aimed at developing this vital sector and will continue to implement these within a clear and well-studied plan.
He noted that the ministry is currently setting five-year implementation plans for vocational and technical education, and after their official adoption, and with the cooperation of all efforts, it will achieve its desired goal in this matter.
This was stated during the coordination meeting chaired by Dr. Gaith at the ministry's building, attended by directors of education, and consultants of vocational and technical education in the ministry, to follow up on vocational education affairs and feedback from the educational field.
Gaith explained that the creation of the post of Secretary-General for Vocational and Technical Education aims to develop the Jordanian educational system, explaining that it operates on two integrated aspects in schools and universities, aiming to enhance the quality of education and link it to practical skills required.
He pointed out that the ministry gives utmost importance to vocational education in its various specializations, considering it a national strategic project that requires serious and responsible cooperation from all entities, emphasizing the role of the educational field in achieving success in this pathway through continuous monitoring and ensuring student regularity.
He highlighted the importance of field visits to vocational schools and monitoring the educational process in the vocational education branch in the educational field, activating the vocational education department in the directorates and following up on it weekly with actual performance reports, pointing out that the ministry has conducted campaigns through the vocational education management to meet parents and students to encourage and increase enrollment in vocational education, emphasizing the importance of vocational guidance in this field.
He called on directors of education to build partnership relations with local communities, the private sector, and training institutions, and to utilize these in providing real training opportunities for our students, mentioning that there will be a trainer from the industrial establishment and another from the school to ensure the success of the practical training, adding that the ministry will in the future train students using virtual reality programs in suitable subjects.
Meanwhile, the directors of education presented their observations and suggestions about the reality of implementing vocational education in the educational field, emphasizing the importance of investing in technical and vocational skills as a main approach to empower students and reduce unemployment rates, and evaluating the experience for the first two years and the challenges facing this educational branch.
