Khaberni - Egyptian investigative authorities have decided to release the suspects in the "harassment incident" with a girl on the Nile Corniche, who are a former officer in the Kuwaiti police and a dismissed Kuwaiti soldier, on a financial bail of 50,000 Egyptian pounds.
According to what "Al-Masry Al-Youm" newspaper reported from judicial sources, the suspects underwent extensive interrogation at the Public Prosecution office, during which the former Kuwaiti officer, named "Turki. M.", denied involvement in any indecent act, confirming that what happened was "a brief verbal altercation" that escalated into a complaint by the plaintiff.
According to "Al-Masry Al-Youm," preliminary investigations revealed that the Kuwaiti officer, aged 27, had only arrived in Egypt 3 days before the incident, on what he described as a "touristic" visit, while his companion "Mohammed. B.", a dismissed Kuwaiti soldier, was with him at the time of the incident.
"Al-Masry Al-Youm" noted that police investigations indicated that the security forces managed to arrest the suspects immediately after the complaint was filed, while the pursuit of two others, still at large, is ongoing. It is believed that they were part of the group accompanying the suspects on the Nile Corniche at the time of the incident.
The investigative authorities indicated that they will continue to examine the technical evidence to accurately determine what happened before making any new decisions regarding the suspects.
The Egyptian security forces had arrested the suspects, where footage of the incident widely spread on social media, documenting the suspect's following and harassing the girl as she walked on the street, which caused her fear and panic and led her to quickly move away from him before she later retrieved the video and filed a complaint with the security authorities in an attempt to track down the suspect.
The victim stated in remarks to local media that the tourist appeared unstable and was heavily intoxicated.
These clips sparked significant outrage in the country, and activists demanded the arrest of the suspect for accusing him of "harassment" of the girl in the middle of the street during broad daylight while he appeared intoxicated.
