Khaberni - The Jordanian Food and Drug Administration responded to a statement by Hania Shamout, the director of the Charity Drug Bank, about the implementation of a special drug tracking law for all pharmaceutical companies soon.

The Jordanian Food and Drug Administration stated that drug tracking is not a “law” but rather a system for electronic drug tracking.

The administration added: This system falls under the jurisdiction of the administration, which is the official body responsible for it and for providing any information related to the progress of this project. Work on this project has been ongoing for some time and aims to track all drugs manufactured within the kingdom or imported from abroad, which contributes to enhancing the role of the administration in protecting the community and enhancing control, ensuring the safety of the drugs by tracking their source and the stages they have undergone from manufacturing to reaching the consumer, and it also comes as part of its ongoing efforts to develop the drug control system and enhance the safety of drugs in the local market.

The administration urged to ensure accuracy and not to disclose any information or statements related to the core work and jurisdiction of the administration without referring to it and obtaining prior approval on the scientific and professional content, under the penalty of legal accountability.

The Jordanian Food and Drug Administration confirms that it is the official reference body authorized to manage and supervise the files of food and drugs in the kingdom.

The administration emphasizes the necessity of ensuring accuracy and not to issue any information or statements related to the core work and specialization of the administration without referring to it and obtaining prior approval on the scientific and professional content, under the penalty of legal accountability.

In reference to the recent discussions about the “Drug Tracking Law,” the administration clarified that what is referred to is not a “law” but a system for electronic tracking of drugs, which falls under the jurisdiction of the administration, the official body responsible for it, and for releasing any information related to the operation of this project, Also, work on this project has been ongoing for some time and aims to track all drugs manufactured inside the kingdom or imported from abroad, which helps in enhancing the role of the administration in protecting the community and enhancing control and verifying the safety of drugs by tracking their origin and the stages they have gone through from manufacturing to reaching the consumer as well as being part of its continuous efforts to develop the drug control system and enhance the safety of drugs in the local market.
