Khaberni - The Iranian authorities announced on Saturday that they plan to regulate water in Tehran, with a population of 10 million, in order to "counter waste" while the country experiences an unprecedented drought.

Energy Minister Abbas Ali Abadi told the official Iranian TV that the regulation "will help avoid waste even though it may be inconvenient," as local media reported nighttime water cutoffs.

A local official reported last October that the decline in rainfall was "unprecedented for almost a century."
