The Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level held a meeting on Sunday via video conferencing at the beginning of the 165th ordinary session of the Council, chaired by His Excellency Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain.

- The meeting was dedicated to discussing the sinful Iranian attacks on the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq, which followed a treacherous and cowardly manner since Saturday, February 28, 2026, and to this date, in a blatant assault on state sovereignty, an unacceptable threat to their security and stability, and a flagrant violation of the principles of international law, the Charter of the United Nations and international humanitarian law, and the principles of good neighborliness.

- In this context, the Council reaffirmed its complete condemnation, in the strongest terms, of these deliberate and brutal Iranian attacks with ballistic missiles and drones, which targeted residential areas and vital infrastructure and civilian objects, including energy facilities, oil and gas installations, desalination plants, airports, and civilian facilities, and diplomatic quarters and hotels, resulting in significant loss of life and property and terrorizing the citizens and residents of the targeted states, constituting a blatant aggression on the sovereignty of the states and a threat to their security and targeting their civilian populations.

- The Council stressed the right of the targeted states to defend themselves, individually or collectively, guaranteed under Article (51) of the United Nations Charter; and expressed full solidarity with the states that were subjected to the treacherous Iranian attacks, based on the notion that Arab national security is indivisible, reaffirming its steadfast support for the territorial integrity of the Arab states and for their sovereignty and independence.

- The Council expressed its support for all efforts and measures taken by the targeted states to defend their territories, maintain their security, and protect their citizens and residents, including the right to respond to these attacks, and expressed full confidence in the targeted states' ability to repel the attacks, commending the readiness of their armed forces and air defense systems that have responded with bravery and efficiency to those unlawful attacks.

- The Council affirmed that such brutal attacks on sovereign Muslim Arab states are not justifiable under any argument, or acceptable under any pretext, and emphasized that the attacks violate all principles of good neighborliness and are grossly inconsistent with the spirit of Islamic brotherhood, warning that these attacks are likely to have long-lasting negative effects on relations with the Arab states that were not parties to the war and did not participate in it, nor did they attack Iran.

- The Council affirmed that the adoption of Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026) reflects the collective will of the international community to protect the sovereignty of states and to maintain international peace and security, which was sponsored by 136 countries, indicating the commitment of the international community to protect the sovereignty of states and address threats affecting regional and international security and stability, appreciating the support shown by sister and friendly states, and urged Iran to swiftly implement the resolution, and to immediately cease all forms of aggression against Arab states and refrain from any provocative acts or directing threats to neighboring states, including using proxies.

- The Council condemned the provocative Iranian actions and measures aimed at closing the Strait of Hormuz or disrupting international navigation, or threatening the freedom of navigation in Bab- el-Mandeb and international waters. The Council demanded the Islamic Republic of Iran to immediately stop all attacks against commercial ships, and to refrain from any attempts to obstruct legitimate passage or undermine the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, affirming that such actions pose significant risks to the stability of the Arab Gulf region, its vital role in the global economy and energy supplies, as well as global peace and security. The Council also condemned Iran's blatant non-compliance with Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), reaffirming that freedom of navigation is a fundamental principle of international law, including the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The Council called upon states worldwide to take appropriate actions and contribute to suitable efforts to ensure safe passage through the strait.

- The Council emphasized its rejection and condemnation of Iran's continued financing, arming, and mobilization of militias affiliated with it in several Arab states serving its interests, which pose a serious threat to the security and stability of those states and the region.
