Smartphone Survives After Being Stuck in Mud for 3 Days Following a Devastating Hurricane

Khaberni - In the aftermath of the devastating Kalmayji hurricane that hit the Philippines a few days ago, leaving catastrophic destruction and dozens dead, a Reddit user shared an incredible story about the survival of his iPhone from the hurricane.

In a post on "Reddit," the user stated that his home in Mandaue City, Cebu Province was completely destroyed by the floods, and that he and his family almost drowned while trying to escape the hurricane, before they were able to reach safety.

During this ordeal, the user lost the iPhone, but after three days, when they were able to return to search for it, they found it stuck in the mud, according to a report by "Android Authority," a technology news site, read by "Al Arabiya Business."

After cleaning and operating it, the phone immediately turned on and was working normally without showing any effects from being in the mud and water for 3 days.

The user later mentioned in a discussion on his post that the phone was an iPhone 17 Pro Max model, and it was inside a "CARE" case from the company "PanzerGlass."

The phone case likely provided only limited help in this case, which makes the fact that the phone still works an exceptionally remarkable thing.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max has an "IP68" rating, meaning that the device is designed to stay underwater for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1.5 meters. This does not necessarily mean that the phone will stop working after that time; it's just the level that the manufacturing company has tested.

This incident adds to a growing list of stories about how durable modern phones are. Earlier this year, a Google Pixel 8 was found working after spending four days in a hot tub, and a Samsung Galaxy model survived after being trapped under Arctic ice for five hours.

This story serves as strong evidence of the quality of engineering in Apple's latest iPhone models, even if some luck also played its part.
