Khaberni - The Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson, Dr. Mohammed Al-Momani, confirmed that proactive youth are the changemakers at the heart of the reform equation, noting that His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, has repeatedly emphasized the importance of empowering youth and enhancing their role in development, and has always been a pioneer in supporting initiatives that elevate voluntary work and foster a culture of giving and social responsibility.

Al-Momani, in a meeting with the "Change Horizon" initiative today Saturday at the ministry, pointed out that the Jordanian youth, proud of their history and armed with knowledge and the Jordanian value system, are confident in their country and themselves, and take the initiative to build their own and their country’s future. He confirmed that youth initiatives have proven to be an effective element in local development, and many of these initiatives have transformed into impactful success models at the provincial level.

He said that volunteering is a profound expression of citizenship, enhancing belonging and contributing to positive change in society. It provides an opportunity for youth to serve the community, acquire new skills, and develop themselves through participation in meaningful activities, explaining that the government's role is to support these initiatives.

Al-Momani highlighted that in the context of enhancing the role of youth in nation-building, the recent reactivation of the national service was a comprehensive national initiative announced by His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, to affirm the great trust bestowed by His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Crown Prince on the Jordanian youth, as the backbone of the present and the makers of the future.

He confirmed that national service is a practical expression of the youth's role in serving their community and bearing responsibility towards their country, noting that it contributes to enhancing the spirit of belonging and discipline, and is one of the tools for preparing an aware generation, capable of fulfilling its duties and actively participating in building Jordan's future.

Al-Momani said that the youth are the most engaged, productive, and interactive with digital media and social media platforms; thus, it is important for the youth to engage with positive content, to stay away from negative and misleading content prevalent on some social media platforms, as awareness and knowledge are important tools in confronting rumors, misinformation, and rejecting hate speech.

He affirmed that the Ministry of State for Media Affairs is committed to spreading concepts of media and information literacy, targeting educating children and youth on critical thinking, distinguishing between true and false or misleading news, and rejecting hate speech. He explained that the goal of media education is to build a digitally aware generation that possesses critical thinking skills, fact-checking capabilities, and the ability to differentiate between opinion and information, and between truth and misinformation.

Al-Momani stated: In Jordan, we believe that empowering youth and providing space for their voice is a fundamental part of the stability of the country and enhances our strength, enjoying direct support from His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, whose leadership presence has been a milestone in this field at both national and international levels. In 2015, His Highness initiated chairing a historic session at the Security Council on "The Role of Youth in Combating Extremism and Violence and Promoting Peace," which resulted in the adoption of UN Resolution No. 2250, the first international resolution that dedicates the role of youth in global peace and security.

As a continuation of this pioneering approach, His Highness the Crown Prince inaugurated the International Forum in Amman on Youth, Peace, and Security in August 2024, which witnessed the launch of the Arab Strategy for 2023–2028, chaired by Jordan and in cooperation with the Arab League, to activate the relevant Security Council resolutions (2250, 2419, 2535).

Al-Momani said: Our presence with you today is not just to convey government messages, but to interact and listen, because the youth are partners in building national decisions and not just recipients. Every time we meet with distinguished youth, we grow more convinced and confident that the future of Jordan will be great and grand, and that the determination and will we see in your eyes are what make the real difference. I call upon you today to continue on this path, and to set an example in the fields of work, positivity, and initiative.

Al-Momani confirmed that Jordan is a strong, leading country, not because it has no challenges, but because it possesses an aware people, wise leadership, and youth who have the will to be part of the solution, not the problem.

Al-Momani listened to and discussed with the members of the initiative, clarified and answered their questions and queries, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry, Dr. Zaid Al-Nawaiseh.
