Israel Prepares to Receive the Body of a Prisoner This Evening

Khaberni - Channel 12 of Israel reported from sources that Israel has received an initial signal about the possible release of a prisoner's body this evening.

Meanwhile, Channel 15 of Israel has stated that the International Committee of the Red Cross is preparing tonight to receive the body of one of the prisoners.

Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, announced that it would hand over the body of "one of the Zionist enemy prisoners this evening".

On the other hand, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation spoke about preliminary preparations to receive a prisoner's body, saying that "it is not clear whether this will happen this evening".

Last Wednesday evening, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), handed over the body of one of the Israeli prisoners to the Red Cross, which was found in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood (east of Gaza City) in a new step within the ongoing understandings between Hamas and the mediators.

Since the ceasefire agreement began on October 10, Hamas has released 20 living prisoners and handed over 21 bodies out of 28, and 6 bodies remained inside the sector according to Israeli estimates.

Israel conditions the start of the second phase of negotiations on receiving the rest of the bodies, while Hamas states that this process requires a lot of time and effort due to the massive destruction in Gaza which hinders access to burial sites, calling on the mediators to provide equipment and technical staff to retrieve the bodies from under the rubble.

The delivery of the body last Wednesday marks the 22nd since the ceasefire on October 10, and mediators' efforts continue to solidify the truce and push negotiations toward implementing the rest of the agreement terms.
