Khaberni - The Director of Meteorology, Raed Al-Khatab, said that Jordan might experience rainy conditions by the end of next week, according to the movement of air masses.
Raed Al-Khatab explained that the rain percentage at the beginning of the current season (since the end of September until now) did not exceed 1 to 2%, and some areas have not experienced any rainfall to date.
He added that the previous season (2024) was also weak, with rainfall reaching only 40-45% of the general average.
Al-Khatab addressed the impact of global climate changes, which contribute to rising surface temperatures, reflecting on the local climate, asserting that this leads to changes in the timing and amount of rainfall.
He pointed out that the actual rainy season in Jordan usually starts in December, noting that seasonal forecasts indicate that the upcoming months will be below the general rainfall average, but there is optimism for improvement as the winter season begins.
Al-Khatab confirmed that despite current challenges, there remains optimism that rainfall will improve in the coming period, especially after the end of next week, when temperatures are expected to drop significantly, and the winter season starts to gradually show its effect.
