Khaberni - The Dujail district in Salah ad Din governorate in Iraq witnessed a tragic incident, after part of the ceiling of Al-Amanah Mixed School collapsed during a class, resulting in a student sustaining moderate injuries that necessitated his immediate transfer to the hospital for necessary treatment.
The accident occurred inside one of the classrooms while the teacher was explaining the lesson, when pieces of the gypsum-decorated ceiling suddenly fell on the students, causing panic inside the classroom.
The educational staff quickly evacuated the students from the hall, while the relevant authorities were contacted to conduct an initial inspection of the site.
The Salah ad Din Education Directorate immediately began an investigation into the circumstances of the collapse, aiming to determine the technical reasons that led to the accident, amid directives to monitor the condition of the injured student. Civil defense teams also arrived at the school to clear the debris of the fallen ceiling and secure the area from any potential danger.
Local reports indicated that the school would undergo a comprehensive examination to ensure the building's safety before resuming official classes, with an emphasis on reviewing all educational facilities in the district to prevent similar incidents in the future.
