Khaberni - Jordan participates in the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), held in the Brazilian city of Belém with broad international participation from world leaders, government representatives, international organizations, and civil society.
The Jordanian delegation at the conference is headed by the Minister of Environment, Ayman Sulaiman, as a delegate on behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
Jordan's participation in this significant international event underscores the Kingdom's steadfast commitment to international climate action, its dedication to effectively contribute to the efforts to address climate change challenges and enhance international cooperation for environmental and developmental sustainability, and enhancing fair and equitable climate action, especially in light of the challenges faced by developing countries due to climate changes.
Jordan continues to invest in climate adaptation and the resilience of communities and ecosystems, particularly in vital sectors such as water, agriculture, and energy, emphasizing the importance of fair and equitable climate financing and the necessity to fulfill international commitments to developing countries to enable them to implement their nationally determined contributions and achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.
During the conference, the Jordanian delegation will showcase the Kingdom's experience in climate adaptation and the implementation of the National Climate Change Strategy 2050, which aims to build a sustainable green economy and enhance the resilience of vital sectors, in line with Jordan’s international commitments in this field.
During its participation, the Kingdom will affirm its commitment to reducing carbon emissions in accordance with the reports submitted under the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement, which aims to limit global temperature rise to less than 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, aiming for a narrower rise of 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Jordan will also affirm its commitment to working with all countries and parties to address climate change, through enhancing international partnerships, exchanging expertise, providing necessary financing and support for implementing climate commitments, contributing to a more sustainable and equitable future for the coming generations.
Jordan's participation in COP30 is an extension of its active role in international forums and embodies its commitment to the principles of international cooperation and climate justice, reaffirming His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision to make Jordan a model in responsible and sustainable climate action.
