Khaberni - Real Madrid is near to finalizing a new defensive signing after the club's management reached a verbal agreement with French player Dayot Upamecano, Bayern Munich's defender, getting ready to include him in the near future.

The French newspaper Foot Mercato mentioned that this step is part of Real Madrid's efforts to strengthen their defense in preparation for the upcoming seasons, especially given the recent frequent injuries that some elements of the backline have suffered.

The report explained that the agreement with Upamecano came after a period of indirect negotiations, where the player welcomed the move to Real Madrid once an understanding between the parties is completed. The current contract of the international defender with Bayern Munich runs until the summer of 2026, making the deal likely to either go through direct negotiations with the German club or by waiting for the contract to end if it is not renewed.

The name of another French defender, Ibrahima Konate, Liverpool player, was previously strongly proposed to Real Madrid's table, but the direction inside the Spanish club is now leaning towards Upamecano, who has extensive experience at the European level and defensive capabilities that suit the playing style in La Liga.

The newspaper pointed out that choosing Upamecano reflects Real Madrid's desire to bring in a defender who can quickly merge with the current group, especially with the presence of several French players in the lineup like Tchouameni, Camavinga, and Mendy. However, the deal remains in its early stages, awaiting official developments in the coming months, amid monitoring from other clubs that may try to enter the negotiations if discussions between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich slow down.
