The French newspaper Foot Mercato mentioned that this step is part of Real Madrid's efforts to strengthen their defense in preparation for the upcoming seasons, especially given the recent frequent injuries that some elements of the backline have suffered.
The report explained that the agreement with Upamecano came after a period of indirect negotiations, where the player welcomed the move to Real Madrid once an understanding between the parties is completed.
