The Bosnia and Herzegovina team snatched a qualifying ticket to the 2026 World Cup finals, after a thrilling victory over the Italian team by penalty shootout, following the end of the original and extra time with a tie (1-1), in the match that was held at the "Bilino Polje" stadium in Zenica, within the European playoff finals.
Italy had opened the scoring early through Moise Kean in the 8th minute, before the Bosnia team leveled the score through Tabakovic in the 79th minute, extending the match to extra time without a change in the score, before Bosnia clinched the match in their favor from the penalty spot.
With this victory, the Bosnia and Herzegovina team succeeded in achieving an important feat by securing a spot in the World Cup, having triumphed over one of the major teams of the European continent in a match that was exciting until the last moments.
