Khaberni - The Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences at Petra University organized a scientific lecture entitled "Entrepreneurship in Jordan", presented by former Minister of Labor and founder of the Business Development Center (BDC) Dr. Nayef Estaitieh, aiming to highlight the success requirements in the modern labor market and connect students with practical experiences.
During the lecture, Estaitieh emphasized that the real capital for success in the business world does not lie in financial funding or connections, but in the mindset, skills, and behaviors of the entrepreneur himself. He explained that the global labor market is undergoing a radical transformation towards a "skills economy", where the ability to achieve and solve problems has become the most important standard, surpassing the total reliance on the academic degree alone.
Estaitieh stressed that entrepreneurial behaviors, such as determination, perseverance, and decision-making ability, are the main drivers for the continuity of any project. He refuted the prevalent belief that "connections" are the key to success, clarifying that they cannot attract customers or guarantee product quality if personal effort, commitment, and smart work are absent.
Estaitieh urged the students to adopt a "skills first" model as a priority in their educational and professional journey, and encouraged them to allocate daily time for developing their practical capabilities, especially mastering the English language and understanding the basics of artificial intelligence which will not threaten those who possess the necessary skills to direct and benefit from it.
Estaitieh also drew the audience's attention to the fact that the future of entrepreneurship in Jordan is not limited to the information technology sector; rather, opportunities in professional and technical projects may exceed it tenfold, urging the youth to think strategically and explore these promising areas that are greatly needed by the market.
This lecture, moderated by Dr. Rami Al-Jbour, is part of a series of events organized by the Business Management department in the faculty, aiming to enhance entrepreneurial awareness among students, connect academic curricula with practical experiences from the heart of the labor market, and provide them with a realistic vision that enables them to build their professional future successfully.
