Khaberni - OpenAI, an American company specializing in artificial intelligence technologies based in San Francisco, announced the availability of the "ChatGPT Go" subscription plan for free to its users in India for 12 months, during the DevDay Exchange event organized by the company for the first time in the country next Tuesday.
The company launched the "Go" plan last August as a budget-friendly alternative to the "Plus" plan, which costs 399 Indian Rupees per month compared to 1,950 Rupees for the "Plus" plan, but the new offer allows enjoying the plan for free for an entire year.
According to "Bloomberg", this offer is part of OpenAI's efforts to expand its user base in India, which is one of the fastest-growing technology and artificial intelligence markets in the world.
The ChatGPT Go plan is a mid-tier option between the free version and the "Plus" plan, and has been exclusively introduced in India with the company's intention to eventually expand it to other regions.
Benefits of subscribing to "ChatGPT Go"
Although it does not offer advanced features such as video creation or access to Codex agents, it provides multiple benefits, notably:
- Ten times higher usage rates than the free plan in terms of messaging, file uploads, and image generation.
- Extended access to the latest model GPT-5.
- Higher limits in data analysis tools such as Python.
- The ability to use projects and tasks and Custom GPTs to organize work, track progress, and create custom artificial intelligence tools.
How to activate the free plan
Users in India can easily activate their free subscription through the following steps:
- Visit the ChatGPT website and log in to the account (as the service is currently not available on mobile apps).
- After logging in, a pop-up window titled "Try Go, Free" will appear, and you should click on the "Try Go" button.
- Go to the pricing page where the Go plan is listed at 0 Rupees, then click on "Upgrade to Go".
- In the payment page, you are asked to confirm the transaction worth 0 Rupees through methods like UPI, credit cards, or bank transfer, making sure to turn off the auto-pay feature before the free period ends.
- After that, the plan is automatically activated for the user to enjoy all the benefits.
