Khaberni - Jordan has made progress in the "Youth, Technology, and Jobs" project, implemented in partnership with the World Bank, by enhancing digital skills for youth and increasing job opportunities in the technology sector and developing electronic government services, within the framework of the economic modernization vision.

According to a project evaluation report, the project received total funding of approximately 200 million dollars, divided between a loan of 163.1 million dollars from the World Bank accounting for about 81.5% of the funding, and a grant of 36.9 million dollars from the Concessional Finance Facility accounting for 18.5%.

As of October last year, the expenditure from the funding reached approximately 63.82 million dollars, representing about 32% of the total funding allocated for the project, a percentage which the World Bank described as reflecting "continued progress" with a need to accelerate the implementation pace in the coming period.

The project extends until February 28, 2027, following a previous decision to extend the implementation period, aiming to ensure the achievement of its ambitious goals in supporting the Jordanian digital economy and generating employment opportunities in the information technology sector.

In terms of digital capacity development, the project has trained 7,999 young men and women on digital age skills, among them 4,523 women and 110 Syrian refugees.

The new digital curriculum has also been introduced in public schools for grades seven to twelve, reaching 402,757 students, alongside active partnerships with 22 universities to support student skills and qualify them for the digital job market through specialized training and guidance programs, according to the report.

In the field of employment and digital job opportunities, the project contributed to providing 4,310 new jobs in the digital sector, including direct tech jobs for training program graduates, support for freelancers through digital platforms, and creating entrepreneurial opportunities in startup companies.

According to the report, 2,612 young people benefited from the digital talent program, the project supported 724 individuals in freelancing, and provided 548 opportunities within expansion agreements of technology companies operating in Jordan.

In the area of enhancing the digital business environment, the project supported 102 startups and connected them with investors and regional companies, contributing to attracting private investments exceeding 14.97 million dollars.

The "Jordan Source" electronic portal program successfully attracted 12 international tech companies to establish and expand their operations in Jordan, supporting the export of digital services and building the capabilities of the local workforce.

At the governmental level, the project achieved qualitative progress in the digital transformation of public services, launching 178 new electronic government services, and achieving more than 52.8 million digital government transactions, in addition to enabling electronic payment for 30% of government entity services, with a direction to expand the scope of digital transformation in the coming period.
