Khaberni - Kuwait has suspended the implementation of biometric fingerprinting procedures at all border points and prohibited their practice as was previously done, in order to avoid the congestion seen at the terminals throughout the past period.
Biometric fingerprinting is known as a biometric technology used for identifying or verifying identity according to unique physiological characteristics of individuals, such as fingerprints, iris patterns, and facial structures. These biometric data are collected and used to verify a person’s identity and to ensure that they are not impersonating other individuals accurately.
It was mentioned that this comes as part of their commitment to facilitate travel procedures and ensure smooth movement at all border points, whether at Kuwait International Airport, or land and sea ports.
The ministry also reported that the biometric fingerprint procedure for citizens will be done before departure from Kuwait's exit points, at identity verification centers affiliated with the General Department of Criminal Evidence and National Identity Centers, while for residents it will be conducted at identity verification centers affiliated with the General Department of Criminal Evidence across all provinces of the country.
In the same context, it was noted that this step was taken after observing an increase in the number of travelers who had not completed the fingerprinting procedure in advance, causing congestion and delays in departure procedures.
The Ministry of Interior called on all citizens and residents to review the designated centers for biometric fingerprinting well ahead of their travel date, to complete the process and avoid any obstacles or delays during travel.
