Khaberni - "Uber" and "Careem"** have started recording audio inside rides for safety purposes, with prior notification to passengers before the recording starts.
A source close to the applications owned by Uber, said that the new system to be implemented soon mandates the presence of surveillance cameras inside the vehicles of smart applications, at the expense of the companies themselves.
The source explained that the feature of recording audio inside the vehicles has been available at Uber for about a year, and it was optional and not mandatory for drivers or passengers, but it is mandatory under the revised system of regulating passenger transport using smart applications, which is expected to be officially implemented soon.
He clarified that the passenger will receive a notification through the application indicating that the driver wishes to activate the audio recording feature, and the passenger is then given the option to refuse recording, cancel the ride, and request another driver who does not use this feature.
