Before the Implementation of New Government Decisions 4000 Vehicles Cleared in Two Days at Zarqa Free Zone

Khaberni - The Free Zone in Zarqa is witnessing active movement and increasing demand for vehicle customs clearance procedures, just before the implementation of new government decisions concerning the restructuring of the vehicle sector, starting Saturday.

The "Kingdom" correspondent reported that there is significant congestion in the clearance yards and exhibitions at the Free Zone, with extended working hours and the zone's doors opened on Friday, in a step aimed at facilitating the completion of importers' transactions and speeding up customs procedures before the anticipated decisions are applied.

The "correspondent" explained that about 1400 customs declarations had been opened by noon on Friday, all of which were completed, while more than 2600 vehicles were cleared on Thursday.

Since the beginning of December, about 25,000 vehicles have been cleared, with a daily average of about two thousand customs declarations, reflecting a state of exceptional activity in the vehicle market in recent days.

This heavy demand comes in anticipation of the new government decisions aimed at reorganizing the vehicle sector, amid anticipation by traders and importers of the impact these changes will have on vehicle prices and market movement in the upcoming period.

The Director General of Jordan Customs, Brigadier Customs Ahmad Al Akalik, previously stated that there is no extension for the decision to stop clearance on non-compliant vehicles.

Jordan Customs had confirmed its compliance with the Cabinet's decision, which includes stopping the clearance on non-compliant vehicles effective from November 1, 2025.

They called on citizens, traders, and investors to "seize the opportunity to clear vehicles covered by the government decision before the beginning of November, and to complete their transactions and benefit from the decision."

Al Akalik said that customs personnel are working around the clock to complete transactions for citizens, traders, and investors.

After October 1, there will be three constraints, according to Al Akalik: "Clearance or approval will not be allowed on salvage vehicles"; there will be no allowance for clearing electric cars older than three years, including the year of clearance; "European, American, and Saudi specifications and standards will be applied to all types of vehicles (hybrid, gasoline, electric)."

He mentioned that working hours are open to complete the last transaction, new inspection yards have been opened, and customs staff have been reinforced for transaction completion, as the Free Zone is experiencing an unprecedented clearance movement on vehicles.
