Khaberni - American Vice President JD Vance considered today (Thursday) that testing the American nuclear arsenal will ensure its proper functioning, without clarifying the nature of the tests ordered by President Donald Trump.
Vance told reporters at the White House when asked about Trump's social media post regarding the order to conduct nuclear tests: "It's important for America's national security to ensure that this nuclear arsenal we possess is functioning properly, and this is part of the testing system." He added that the president's statement "speaks for itself."
To clarify, we know it is functioning properly, but we must continue to work on it over time, and the president just wants to make sure we are doing that," Vance continued.
Trump announced in a post on "Truth Social" that the United States would immediately resume nuclear weapons testing after a 33-year hiatus.
Trump's announcement came amid China's steady progress at the nuclear level, and after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that his country had successfully tested a nuclear-powered missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads, and then tested, separately, a nuclear-capable maritime drone that could cause destructive "tsunami" tidal waves. Additionally, the Chinese president oversees one of the fastest nuclear arsenal-building operations on the planet.
When asked whether he believed his directive would create a more dangerous nuclear environment, Trump downplayed it, saying: "I think we've completely resolved the issue." He added that the United States is already having discussions with Russia about nuclear disarmament, and "China will join these talks."
