Khaberni - The Syrian Ministry of Defense's Media and Communications Department announced on Wednesday that the Syrian Democratic Forces "SDF" targeted a Syrian army post near the Tishrin Dam with a guided missile, resulting in the death of two soldiers and a third critically injured.
"SDF rejects all previous understandings"
The department added in a statement to the Syrian news agency "SANA", that "SDF" renewed its rejection of all previous understandings and agreements, confirming that it was discarding them by targeting army posts and killing its members.
This attack came after Syrian media reported last Sunday about clashes involving machine guns and shells between the Syrian army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the towns of Muhkan and Kashmah in eastern Deir Ezzor province.
On March 10, SDF signed an agreement with Damascus, which stipulated "the integration of civil and military institutions in the north and east of Syria", ensuring the constitutional rights of the Kurds, the return of displaced persons, and the participation of all Syrians in the transitional process along with other items that reject calls for division and fight remnants of the former regime.
While both sides have been openly negotiating since then, several obstacles still prevent the full implementation of this agreement, including the "Autonomous Administration's" insistence (considered the political and administrative wing of SDF in northeastern Syria) on retaining the distinctiveness of the Syrian Democratic Forces within the army, while Damascus has rejected this request.
SDF also demanded a decentralized state, while the Syrian government insisted on state centralization.
In the midst of these developments, Turkey renewed its warnings to the Kurdish forces deployed in northeastern Syria.
Last Thursday, the Turkish Ministry of Defense in its weekly statement, urged SDF to "refrain from any actions or statements that harm the unity of Syria".
It also emphasized that "the integration of SDF into the Syrian defense is a matter of great importance," confirming that it constantly monitors the issue.
Turkey's position
It is noted that since the fall of the former Syrian regime, the Turkish authorities, which have launched numerous attacks on these Kurdish forces over the years of war in Syria, have continuously warned SDF, which consists of thousands of fighters, urging them to integrate into the official Syrian army and security forces.
Last week, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also urged SDF to integrate, warning them "to stop following erroneous paths," in his words.
