Khaberni - A court in Norway has issued a 21-year prison sentence to a man for killing his step-sister and attacking a mosque six years ago, in a new trial.

Today, Wednesday, the Oslo District Court declared the attacker mentally fit, according to the news agency "NTB", and deemed the prison sentence sufficient to protect society.

In the original trial in 2020, the man was sentenced to serve 21 years in a secure prison on charges of murder and terrorism, with a minimum of 14 years to be served.

The man, who was armed with several firearms, attacked a mosque in Bærum, about 20 kilometers west of Oslo, in August 2019.

The worshippers at the mosque managed to subdue the perpetrator, who was only 21 years old at the time. He was emulating a deadly terrorist attack on a mosque in New Zealand and was arrested afterwards without any serious injuries occurring to anyone in the mosque.

However, the police later found the body of his 17-year-old step-sister at their parents' home, who he had killed with four shots from a hunting rifle.
