Khaberni - The content creator known as "Madahem" has been referred to the Economic Court in Egypt, after being accused of publishing indecent content and exploiting communication platforms.
The investigation office decided to refer the famous blogger "Madahem" to the Economic Court, after he was accused of publishing video clips containing indecent language, and misusing social media platforms.
The Egyptian Public Prosecution has charged the accused with creating electronic accounts for the purpose of broadcasting content contrary to the family values and principles of the Egyptian society, in addition to misusing social media tools.
Earlier, the competent authorities had decided to seize the funds and properties of "Madahem", after uncovering his involvement in laundering about 65 million Egyptian pounds, obtained from his illegal online activities through broadcasting video clips containing indecent language.
A statement from the sector combating public funds crimes and organized crime, in coordination with the concerned authorities at the Ministry of Interior, pointed to legal measures taken against "Madahem", residing in the Qanater Khairiya area in Qalyubia Governorate, for his involvement in laundering money resulting from his illegal activity in creating and managing pages on social media sites.
He published video clips that include an assault on community values and principles, aiming to increase viewership rates and achieve illegal financial gains, while trying to disguise the sources of the money and give them a legitimate appearance through purchasing residential units, cars, motorcycles, and establishing companies.
The estimated amount of money that the accused laundered is approximately 65 million Egyptian pounds. These measures come as part of the authorities' efforts to combat money laundering crimes, trace the wealth of individuals involved in criminal activities, monitor their properties, and take appropriate legal actions.
The incident has been referred to the Public Prosecution to commence legal investigations and determine responsibilities.
