Khaberni - Milan squandered their early lead against host Atalanta, settling for the draw (1-1) in the match that brought the teams together on Tuesday evening, as part of the ninth round of the Italian league.
Milan opened the scoring early just four minutes after the kick-off, following a corner kick executed by the team. Defender Honest Ahanor cleared the ball in front of Atalanta’s goal, reaching Samuel Ricci on the edge of the penalty area, whose shot deflected off Atalanta's midfielder Ederson before settling in the net.
But Atalanta managed to equalize in the 35th minute, when Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman received a precise through pass from his Croatian teammate Mario Pasalic and launched a powerful shot that found the net of Milan’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
The draw continued between the teams until the end of the match, with each team earning a point.
Atalanta, with this draw for the fifth consecutive round, increased their points to 13, ranking sixth on the table.
As for Milan, their points now total 18, placing them second, ahead of Roma, third in the rankings, which will host Parma on Wednesday evening in the same round of competition.
With this draw, Milan missed the opportunity to close the gap with the reigning champions, Napoli, who leads the standings with 21 points after their hard-fought victory over Lecce with a solitary goal earlier on Tuesday.
