Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II and the Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid confirmed during their meeting in Amman today, Tuesday, the strength of the fraternal relations that unite the two countries and brotherly peoples, and their commitment to strengthening them.
The meeting between His Majesty and the Iraqi President at Basman Palace focused on ways to expand economic, commercial, and investment cooperation, develop joint electrical connection projects, and facilitate the movement of trade and transport of goods and individuals between the two countries.
His Majesty the King emphasized the importance of building on the achievements of cooperation in the fields of energy, trade, transportation, and economic integration.
The meeting also addressed the most prominent regional developments, the efforts being made to restore stability in the region, and the work to support peaceful solutions to crises that ensure the sovereignty of states and the security of their territories.
His Majesty the King stressed the necessity of ensuring compliance with the agreement to end the war in Gaza in all its phases and to stop the escalation in the West Bank.
His Majesty pointed out the importance of enhancing joint Arab action to intensify efforts for a humanitarian response in Gaza and to remove the restrictions that hinder the delivery of relief aid.
His Majesty the King warned of the danger of unilateral actions against Palestinians, and attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
The consistent position of both countries in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people was reaffirmed, including the establishment of their independent state.
On his part, the Iraqi President affirmed his country's commitment to strengthening the historical and fraternal relations with Jordan and continuing to work to serve the interests of the brotherly peoples, contributing to achieving security, stability, and development in the region.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi, the Director of His Majesty's Office, Alaa Batayneh, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Ya'rab Qudah, the head of the honorary mission accompanying the guest, and the delegation accompanying the Iraqi President.
