Khaberni - IKEA has unveiled a new product named Phone Sleep Collection, which is a mini bed specifically designed for smartphones, equipped with NFC technology to assist users in reducing screen time and improving their sleep quality.

The idea is as simple as it is innovative; after downloading the "IKEA" app on either iOS or Android, a user can place their phone on this mini bed before going to sleep.

Then, the app records the duration of "phone rest" on the bed, aiming for seven continuous hours of rest, just as humans need, according to a report published by "androidauthority" which "Al Arabiya Business" reviewed.

The new offer from "IKEA Emirates" allows obtaining the mini bed for free when purchasing products worth 750 AED (about 200 USD) from the complete sleep collection, in addition to a voucher worth approximately 100 AED for those who achieve seven consecutive nights of “proper sleep” recorded through the app.

The mini bed, which requires manual assembly in IKEA's traditional style, combines technical intelligence and design whimsy by using an NFC chip to interact with the phone as soon as it is placed on the designated sleeping surface.

While this project seems like a whimsical marketing campaign, IKEA asserts that the real objective is to encourage users to stay away from screens before bedtime, a habit that has been negatively impacting sleep quality due to the continuous brain stimulation by blue light waves and the dopamine rush from scrolling through social media apps.
