Khaberni - The Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported that the authorities arrested Syrian artist Maan Abdulhaq, known for his character “Sateef the Blind” in the series Bab Al-Hara, due to violations of asylum laws and accusations related to his public support for Bashar al-Assad's regime during the war years in Syria.
The newspaper clarified that the arrest took place in the capital, Amsterdam, where Abdulhaq was transferred to a detention center belonging to the Dutch Immigration Department, pending an investigation into his activities and political statements that were considered in violation of the neutrality conditions imposed on asylum seekers.
It added that the Dutch authorities are considering deporting him back to his original country after the completion of the investigations, confirming that his file has been referred to the competent authorities to consider revoking his right to asylum
